ACT Finance Spokesman Rodney Hide said today that National's tax cut carrot dangled by Bill English was too timid.
"It's good that Bill English finally agrees with ACT that the top rate of tax must come down to boost jobs and growth. What's disappointing is that business is only to have their three cent tax cut "when conditions allow" and the proposal is only to cut the company rate, not the personal rate.
"The company tax rate and personal rate should be cut together and business needs a serious commitment to tax reductions.
"The problem is that National has simply not got government spending under control," said Rodney Hide.
