ACT New Zealand MPs and supporters today set off on their five-week, nationwide bus tour that will cover more than 100 towns and cities in the North and South Islands over the next 33 days.
The famous ACT bus made its first stop at the America's Cup village where ACT Leader Hon Richard Prebble held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially launch the tour
ACT Leader Hon Richard Prebble said "the ACT bus is the only specialised campaign bus in the country fully equipped with 8 speakers, a specially designed Harry Truman speaking platform on the back and another platform on the roof.
The first event of the tour, straight after the ribbon cutting, was the opening of ACT MP Rodney Hide's campaign for the Epsom seat. Rodney Hide and Richard Prebble made their Epsom campaign opening speeches to a crowd of Epsom supporters at the Fred Ambler lookout in Parnell.
The ACT New Zealand bus tour will finish on the eve of the election in Wellington Central at Queens Wharf.
"ACT's support has been strong in rural heartland and the bus tours are designed to build on that support. ACT's recent polling shows that the party is already second in rural New Zealand and this support is rapidly growing, said ACT Leader Hon Richard Prebble.
