Dirty Tricks in Wellington Central

Published: Tue 19 Oct 1999 02:42 PM
Dirty tactics have emerged in the campaign for Wellington Central after posters purporting to be from the Alliance were pasted up at the weekend said Alliance candidate Phillida Bunkle.
Two different posters were found at numerous sites around Victoria University ostensibly promoting Phillida Bunkle for Wellington Central. The posters attacked other candidates and made no mention of the Alliance Party.
“No one associated with my campaign has had anything to do with the posters,” said Phillida Bunkle.
The posters appeared along side others promoting Richard Prebble and seem to have been printed in a similar fashion and pasted at a similar time.
“Strangely Richard’s posters did not cover over these posters as you might have expected. I hope that no one from his team have been involved. This is dirty campaigning.”
