“COME CLEAN LABOUR AND ALLIANCE”
New Zealand First has called on Labour and the Alliance to release their coalition agreement before the election, so voters can see their joint policies.
The Christchurch Press today reported that the two parties have been negotiating in secret since last August.
The Rt Hon Winston Peters said that he was not opposed to coalition talks, but suggested that they should be held after the election, and that Labour and the Alliance tell the public what they were arranging behind closed doors.
“We all know what happened in 1984 with Labour’s secret agenda and voters have a right to know if there is another hidden agenda being prepared.
“We have just seen Labour and the Alliance plot to close down the West Coast. What other schemes are they hatching?”
“It is also astonishing that these parties have been negotiating since August 1998. They make our negotiating time look like a weekend chat!” Mr Peters said.
