Mauri Pacific will protect integrity of the Treaty
Mauri Pacific is the only party that can stop ACT ‘s extremist views on the Treaty of Waitangi, its president, Tiana Wharawhara said.
‘New Zealand First leader Winston Peters doesn’t believe in Treaty partnership, and none of NZ First’s 15 founding principles mention the Treaty of Waitangi or Maori. Labour is no different. Neither Maori or the Treaty of Waitangi are mentioned on Helen Clark’s seven pledges. Mauri Pacific is the only party that will protect the integrity of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Mrs Wharawhara said Mauri Pacific proposed a nationwide education campaign on the Treaty of Waitangi, which she believed Mr Prebble and members of his party would benefit from.
‘Mr Prebble’s proposal to eliminate all treaty claims and the treaty process is equal to Winston’s Asian bashing. Both men squawk out of total ignorance of the issues.
‘New Zealanders must decide on treaty issues from an informed position, not one based on fear and anger. The only way to counter ignorance is with education, and that is why Mauri Pacific’s policy for treaty education is sound and entirely necessary.
