ACT Party President Sir Roger Douglas today said job creation and strong, growing businesses were at the heart of ACT's
five year programme to bring the top rate of tax down to 20 cents.
"The positive effect of that goal has been recognised in two major independent surveys. That is why both have found
ACT's economic policies to be the best for the economy, the best for businesses and the best for creating the jobs that
are so desperately needed in New Zealand.
"It is also clear from those surveys and from businesses around the country, particularly the small and medium size
businesses that are the engine room of our economy, that the tired and taxing policies of the Alliance would drive them
into the ground.
"Both survey's have confirmed the disastrous effect the extreme policies of Jim Anderton would have on businesses and
jobs. His are the failed ideas of a thankfully long distant past.
"It's clear from the negative reception the Alliance's policies are getting that New Zealanders don't want the politics
of envy. They want a positive, forward-looking vision that helps everyone to do well.
"There is no place for politicians like Jim Anderton that promise the earth and cripple hard working New Zealanders to
pay for it. Responsible policies must be about growing the pie for everyone, not sitting in Wellington and deciding how
it will be carved up," said Sir Roger Douglas.
