NZ First Maori Candidate For Te Tai Hauauru Seat

An outstanding Maori woman was chosen as the New Zealand First candidate for the Te Tai Hauauru electorate at a hui held at Te Tokanganui-a-noho Marae, Te Kuiti.
She is Ms Lorraine Erana Anderson, who is Ngati Maniapoto born and bred.
She is currently one of the Managing Directors of Wentworth Landers Ltd, a local company specialising in research and administration. Her employment record includes Interim Board Manager, Maniapoto Maori Trust Board; Coordinator of Maori Language Resource Development Project, University of Waikato; Primary School Teacher, self-employed and a number of administrative positions. She has also worked in various government departments in Sydney, Australia including the Attorney General’s Department.
Ms Anderson is also involved with many community organisations, like whanau and hapu committee projects; the local branch of Maori Women’s Welfare League; and Nga Puna Waihanga o Tainui (a Tainui Maori artists and writers group).
She has a Bachelor of Education degree and is currently undertaking papers towards completing her Master’s degree at Waikato University.
This completes the selection process for the Maori electorates giving New Zealand First three men and three women candidates for the Maori seats.
