Alliance Tax Policy Is An Export Policy

Published: Tue 28 Sep 1999 09:58 AM
The Alliance party, by its tax policy, has clearly indicated it intends exporting every young New Zealander of talent and ability, says ACT Leader Richard Prebble.
"Why should a hard working Kiwi hang round in New Zealand just to have the Alliance confiscate nearly half their income?
"The Alliance's tax policy does nothing to grow the economy - in stark contrast to ACT's tax policy, which has now been found by two major independent studies to increase jobs and growth.*
"Instead, the Alliance policy is purely focused on taking money away from those who have earned it and making sure they can't do anything productive with it.
"The special 'executive surcharge' is the most obvious politics of jealousy.
"The outrageous nature of the Alliance tax policy only brings more sharply into focus why National's cautious tax policy isn't enough and why ACT's tax solution is winning the support of productive, hard-working New Zealanders."
