Helen Clark’s carping comments about Bill Clinton cheapen her but do nothing to lessen the impact of APEC, according to
National MP Annabel Young.
“Clark must be completely self-obsessed if the only idea she has about APEC is that she didn’t get a private meeting
with the President of the United States.”
“APEC is the biggest Foreign Affairs event in New Zealand in my life-time. It was a terrific success. Clark should
congratulate the Prime Minister and all the people from Foreign Affairs, the Police, Armed Forces and Trade personnel
who made it all work."
“Instead Clark is carping on about how important she is and complaining that she thinks that the President of the United
States should have come to Wellington to see her. What planet is Helen Clark on?” asked Annabel Young. “We are lucky he
came to New Zealand. He sent his Vice President to the last APEC.”
