State Sector Boss Must Take Responsibility

Published: Wed 1 Sep 1999 02:16 PM
ACT Finance Spokesman Rodney Hide said today that David Bale's outrageous salary package and subsequent resignation raised questions about State Services boss Michael Wintringham and how he is doing his job.
"What's gone on is wrong and unacceptable. I would expect the State Services boss Michael Wintringham to provide a report explaining how Mr Bale's salary package was decided, what role he had in deciding that package, what role the Board played, and how government can avoid salary's getting so out of whack with reality in the future.
"Michael Wintringham should also report on the salary packages of all Crown entity executives and boards to ensure that there aren't more David Bale sized packages that he is in the dark about," said Rodney Hide.
