Confusion in ACT Ranks
ACT MP Criticizes National MP for NOT Spending Taxpayers' Money
For Immediate Release
Monday, August 30, 1999
Annabel Young MP is laughing off criticism by ACT MP Derek Quigley. Mr Quigley made his derogatory comments about Ms Young at a press conference today. "He is complaining that I didn't go on a taxpayer-funded trip to Australia. He should check with the tax-payers and his own Party before he runs that line."
"ACT cannot preach economy and then complain when an MP turns down a trip to Australia because she prefers to work with constituents in New Zealand. I weighed up the cost/benefit and I decided to stay here."
Annabel Young said that the Quigley team that went to Australia submitted a report on the things that they had seen. She had read the report and assumed that the report was a reasonable reflection of what was learnt in Australia.
