Mystery surrounds the absence of New Zealand First member of the Special Committee on the Kiwifruit Restructuring Bill. New Zealand First's permanent member was absent today from hearings and no New Zealand First member replaced him.
"I am surprised that Winston Peters didn't step into the gap while Woolerton is away today" said National MP Annabel Young. "Surely the Member for Tauranga understands how important the future of kiwifruit is for the Tauranga electorate."
"The absence of the New Zealand First MP from the Committee raises doubts about NZ First's position on the industry restructuring. Are they for or against it?" asked Ms Young.
