Be Afraid Of Labour's Commerce Commission

Published: Thu 29 Jul 1999 04:56 PM
PRESS RELEASE BOB SIMCOCK, MP HAMILTON WEST
“Paul Swain’s call for a more aggressive Commerce Commission should make people very afraid,” Bob Simcock, MP for Hamilton West, said today.
“This man doesn’t know the difference between a monopoly and a competitive market.”
“This is the man who called for price control in the competitive electricity retail sector, but opposed it in the monopoly electricity lines sector” Bob Simcock said.
“If he had responsibility for an ‘aggressive’ Commerce Commission who knows what would be controlled. His corner dairy would be at great risk”.
“Just like Cullen who can’t work out how much his superannuation policy will cost or how he would pay for it, Swain hasn’t got a clue” Mr Simcock concluded.
