Irrational Voting

Published: Thu 29 Jul 1999 02:47 PM
New Zealand First Health Spokesperson, Jenny Bloxham MP, has asked the Minister of Health, and the Alliance and ACT Health Spokespeople to explain their decision to lower the drinking age.
“These MPs have capitulated to the Booze Barons against all medical evidence, including a late plea from the New Zealand Medical Association to keep the drinking age at 20.
“Members who voted for legislation which will be detrimental to the health of young New Zealanders have proven they are not fit to be spokespeople for health.
“The stance of Wyatt Creech, Phillida Bunkle and Ken Shirley is contradictory.
“They need to re-examine their positions when the next stage of the Bill is considered in Parliament,” said Jenny Bloxham MP.
