NZ FIRST OPPOSES MEGA DAIRY INDUSTRY BILL
New Zealand First will oppose the new dairy industry legislation at this stage.
The Leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters, says the dairy industry, which has been built up by generations of farmers, should not suddenly undergo major restructuring without long and careful thought.
He says NZ First will oppose the legislation until it can be seen that it is in the best interests of both the dairy farmers, and the country.
Mr Peters says he is quite concerned that there appear to be no real and lasting guarantees in the legislation to keep the dairy industry from falling into foreign control which would be totally unacceptable.
