Dear Minister
It has been bought to my attention that the Army has recently employed the public relations company to produce a special
promotional video/film, the job value being in the region of $100,000. I am told that the work did not go out for public
tender.
Please advise:
1. Has Defence given work to that was not offered by public tender?
2. Under whose authorisation was that work given?
3. What was the exact value of the work offered?
4. Is this normal procedure?
5. What criteria does Defence use to determine that one particular private company should be treated preferentially to
others who provide the same service?
Could you also advise what other work has been given to by Defence Force Headquarters and the Ministry of Defence over
the past twelve months.
Yours sincerely
Ron Mark
