“A new Government agency will just add to an alphabet soup of departments responsible for delivering infrastructure”,
says ACT Leader David Seymour.
“If a new infrastructure agency is needed then what are the New Zealand Transport Agency, the Ministry of Transport,
Local Government, and the Treasury’s National Infrastructure Unit for?
“The fact is the Government has no idea what to do, so creating more bureaucracy gives the impression it is doing
something.
“Not only is another government agency wasteful and likely to make infrastructure issues worse, it blurs the lines of
accountability.
“The National Party has also bought into the idea that bureaucracy will magically solve our problems, proposing an
Infrastructure Commission.
“Ever-growing bureaucracy has not delivered better outcomes for New Zealand.
“Outcomes in health, education, welfare, and housing make that painfully obvious.
“Trying to solve a problem by creating yet more bureaucracy shows just how disconnected from reality this government
is”, says Mr Seymour.
