Green MP Chloe Swarbrick to visit Nelson region in wake of youth mental health service decision
MP will meet with community to discuss their concerns following today’s announcement from Nelson Marlborough DHB.
“The local community in Nelson have made it loud and clear that the CAMHS service is needed and wanted,” Green MP Chlöe Swarbrick said this afternoon.
“Today we have heard that the proposed restructuring of services will go ahead. This is disappointing for those who have fought to save it. I will be in Nelson next week and will be hearing from people about their concerns.”
“The Green Party received a petition calling for CAMHS to be saved, and we want to commend the hard work of Zoe Palmer, her friends and whānau and the people of Nelson for their incredible campaign fighting for their local youth mental health services. It ignited a critical nation-wide conversation about the state and support of our front line services, and the central importance of community voice. That conversation cannot and does not end here.”
“We are committed to improving mental health outcomes for all New Zealanders, by backing successful and sustainable projects that are integrated with and responsive to communities. We’ll continue working to get the best outcomes for front line mental health services.”
