“The new Green portfolios and Caucus positions reflect our Ministers and MPs strengths and talents and will increase our ability to achieve transformative change while upholding our independent Green voice,” said Green Party Co-leader Marama Davidson.

“We have used this opportunity to appoint our Musterer (Whip) Gareth Hughes as the Caucus Strategist, a role left vacant since the departure of Kevin Hague from Parliament, and Chlöe Swarbrick as the new Deputy Musterer.
“Gareth is the longest serving MP in our current caucus, and his extensive experience in strategy and campaigning will be invaluable in helping to coordinate our parliamentary work.
“James and I have worked with the caucus to make changes to ensure we are working most effectively and strategically as a team and are making the most of unique position as a Government support party outside Cabinet.”
Other portfolio changes include Ministers Julie-Anne Genter and Eugenie Sage taking on the non-ministerial portfolios of Urban Development and Auckland Issues, and Internal Affairs and Civil Defence, respectively.
Chlöe Swarbrick takes on a newly established portfolios of Drug Law Reform, following on from her work on medicinal cannabis, and Open and Accessible Government, which will use her extensive experience in engaging disaffected young people in the political system.
