“The Government’s botched handling of Partnership Schools continues with an incredible walk-out of the entire
Partnership School Authorisation Board”, says ACT Leader David Seymour.
“The Board, appointed to approve applications of new Partnership Schools and monitor the performance of existing ones,
must contain five members under the Education Act.
“If the Minister does not appoint five individuals to make up the Partnership School Authorisation Board by the end of
this month, he will be vulnerable to legal action and prosecution.
“The Education Minister’s repeated prejudiced statement against Partnership Schools already made himself vulnerable to
accusations of bias in carrying out his statutory role being responsible for the contract.
“With other Government Ministers appearing to have had secret meetings and given secret reassurances to some Partnership
School operators but not others, the Government has battered itself with its own incompetence in its misguided drive to
eradicate schools that are actually working”, says Mr Seymour.
