Boardroom survey gives big tick to ACT’s GST policy
The Herald’s Mood of the Boardroom survey endorses ACT’s strong focus on infrastructure, says ACT Leader David Seymour.
The largest concerns for business are congestion, transport infrastructure, growth pressure in Auckland, and housing unaffordability.
“ACT agrees with businesses that building infrastructure and housing, rapidly and at scale, is the greatest thing we can
do to improve life for all New Zealanders,” says Mr Seymour.
“So it’s no wonder businesses like ACT’s policy to use GST revenue from local building projects to fund the
infrastructure that goes with it. One chairman says ACT’s policy is ‘right on the button’.
“This systematic change will ensure infrastructure is funded automatically, instead of by political whim, with the
biggest relief going to high-growth areas like Auckland and Queenstown. ACT’s policy will facilitate more homebuilding,
plus give local authorities an incentive to approve more houses.”

ACT’s policy of cutting the corporate tax rate is also met with support, as is reviewing tax breaks for Maori
