Fujixerox NZ’s Former Auditors, EY, Try to Muzzle NBR
New Zealand First is blasting Ernst & Young (EY), FujiXerox NZ’s former auditors, for its ham-fisted attempt at censoring NBR’s entry for the EY sponsored Business Journalism Awards.
“It is rich of National to claim that New Zealand is ‘least corrupt,’ when EY, which does a lot of work for this National-led government, has now turned censor,” says the Rt Hon Winston Peters, Leader of New Zealand First and Member of Parliament for Northland.
“EY is throwing its sponsorship weight around over Karyn Scherer’s exposé on FujiXerox NZ. As they say, that goes to character because EY seems to value business journalism, just so long as the lens isn’t turned on it or a former client.
“It’s also inept, almost as inept as an auditor who misses up to $500m of transactions that have all the appearance of fraud.
“New Zealand First has referred a complaint about EY to Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand,” says Mr Peters.
