Apology Accepted
Finance Minister Bill English is being thanked for his apology to New Zealand First Leader and Member of Parliament for Northland Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“Mr English apologised for not giving us the correct information in an Official Information Act request,” says Mr Peters.
“We suggest that Ministers and their staff take much greater care in future when responding to OIA requests. This is the only way the process will work properly.”
New Zealand First challenged Mr English in Parliament on August 25 over his OIA response regarding correspondence between himself, or his staff, and Federated Farmers in March 2013.
Mr English says his staff and the Treasury have searched again, and they found the document that they denied having.
