SuperGold successfully targets legal services
Senior Citizens Minister Jo Goodhew says the latest SuperGold recruitment campaign has achieved its aim of signing up
more law firms.
Nationally, the number of business outlets offering a SuperGold discount for legal services has more than tripled over
the last two years.
In Wellington, there are now 28 SuperGold business outlets offering legal services. That’s up from 7 outlets at the same
time two years ago.
“For a law firm, joining the SuperGold programme makes good business sense,” says Mrs Goodhew.
“They gain access to the growing seniors market, and by offering a discount, encourage more people to get the legal
protection they need such as setting up wills, trusts and enduring powers of attorney (EPA).
“Today the SuperGold Card is a very different programme compared to when it started - and in the last two and a half
years has flourished, with the number of businesses offering discounts to senior citizens more than quadrupling,” says
Mrs Goodhew.
At the end of May, there were 641,911 SuperGold Card holders, and a total of 7,187 businesses represented by 11,757
outlets offering discounts for cardholders.
“SuperGold Card holders can also do their part in getting more organisations to join up by talking with local business
owners who are not already in the scheme and encouraging them to sign on,” says Mrs Goodhew.
