Early Election All About the Banks’ Case
The Prime Minister’s decision to throw New Zealand into an early election was all about the John Banks’ court case – John Key was scared of today’s verdict, says New Zealand First.
“John Key hoodwinked New Zealand into believing he had sound reasons for calling an early election, but in reality he was manipulating democracy,” says New Zealand First Leader Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“He was highly suspicious of the outcome of the Banks’ trial and that Mr Banks would have to step down if found guilty.
“He refused to read the police report, or answer questions satisfactorily about it, and this decision has found the Prime Minister out,” says Mr Peters.
