Carefully Does It on Coromandel Roads During Gypsy Day
Coromandel MP Scott Simpson is reminding motorists to be careful on the roads this long weekend with hundreds of farmers relocating.
Scott Simpson MP says “Gypsy Day is here again, marking the change of dairy season. It means many of our region’s farmers, their families and their stock are moving to new pastures.”
Mr Simpson says “Coromandel’s roads are likely to be busy with stock being transported in trucks, or on the roads if they are being moved close by. And that’s on top of the heavier holiday weekend traffic.”
“Motorists need to be extra cautious. If they meet stock on the road, they need to be patient and follow farmers’ instructions,’ he says.
Scott Simpson MP says “Federated Farmers is advising its members to plan their move carefully, as good preparation can help minimize the amount of effluent left on the roads. “
