Former Hauraki Mayor Reappointed to Local Government Commission
Coromandel MP Scott Simpson is congratulating a former Hauraki District Mayor on his reappointment as Chair of the Local Government Commission.
He’s Basil Morrison, who’s held the position since 2011.
Scott Simpson MP says “Basil Morrison brings a wealth of experience to the table. He’s been deeply involved local government, both in Hauraki, and nationally as Chair of Local Government New Zealand.”
“Mr Morrison’s reappointment endorses the knowledge and expertise he contributes to the Local Government Commission,” said Mr Simpson.
The organisation is an independent statutory body established under the Local Government Act 2002.
Its main roles are to make decisions about the structure and boundaries of local government and the representation arrangements for local authorities.
