Key Notes - Helping people into work
Budget 2014 is just over a week away, and this week I delivered a pre-Budget speech outlining two initiativesto help people into work.
Our economic plan is working, with 84,000 more Kiwis in work in the past year.
But we are focused on locking in these gains and helping more people into work.
National will expand the Apprenticeship Reboot scheme by a further 6,000 places to a total of 20,000 places.
The Reboot is getting more young people qualified, especially in the priority trades we need to rebuild Christchurch and
meet the construction boom in Auckland.
We also unveiled our '$3k to Christchurch' initiative offering beneficiaries who have a job offer in Canterbury a $3,000
payment to help them move.
The Christchurch rebuild creates opportunities for beneficiaries who are seeking work, and National wants to help them
reach their potential.
