MP Scott Simpson encourages applications for Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowships.
Coromandel MP Scott Simpson is encouraging people in the region who want to travel overseas to undertake research to
apply for the 2015 Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowships.
Scott Simpson MP says “Every week, people in the Coromandel are working hard to improve their communities. These
Fellowships would give them the opportunity to travel abroad to learn and share ideas.”
Mr Simpson says Winston Churchill was a great believer in furthering peace and understanding though experiencing other
cultures.
“It is said that travel broadens the mind. Anyone granted one of these Fellowships would gain a great deal of knowledge
they could then bring
back to home to the Coromandel and apply to their wider communities,”
he said.
This is the 50th anniversary of the scheme. Since it began over 800 New Zealanders have taken up the opportunity. This
year, up to fifteen fellowships will be awarded.
Current fellows are researching a wide variety of topics from education and social welfare, to health, agriculture,
conservation and technology.
Applications close at the end of July. There’s more information and application forms at www.communitymatters.govt.nz or call 0800 824 824.
