ANZAC Day – an opportunity to pay tribute to Kiwi heroes
Coromandel MP Scott Simpson will join Paeroa’s Dawn Service this ANZAC day to honour New Zealand’s servicemen and women.
Mr Simpson says ANZAC Day is an opportunity to show respect to our fallen soldiers, and to pay tribute to Kiwis helping to build a better world today.
April 25th is the anniversary of the landing of New Zealand and Australian soldiers – the ANZACs – on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915.
More than 2700 New Zealanders lost their lives in the campaign.
Both of Mr Simpson’s grandfathers served in Gallipoli. Both of them returned home.
Scott Simpson MP will also go to the ANZAC Day service at the Katikati Memorial Hall at 11am.
