Cosgrove writes to invite Countdown to Committee
Labour’s Commerce spokesperson Clayton Cosgrove has today written to the Chief Executive of Progressive Enterprises Dave Chambers, asking him if he would accept an invitation to appear before the Commerce Select Committee.
“Yesterday National MPs blocked my motion to invite Progressive Enterprises to appear before the Select Committee.
“This was despite Progressive sending a letter through its lawyers complaining about media coverage of the financial review of the Commerce Commission. I think it’s appropriate that the company has an opportunity to air its views.
“I am sure if the Chief Executive of Progressive (or his representatives) was willing to appear before the Committee to discuss these matters, I could convince National Party members to invite him. That’s why I have written to him today (letter attached).
“I look forward to his reply. I have suggested to him that if he does not wish to appear he may like to outline his reasons why.
“The Commerce Committee is a far more appropriate forum to discuss these issues than through lawyers,” says Clayton Cosgrove.
