Labour supports lifting Fiji travel sanctions
Labour supports lifting Fiji travel sanctions as the country makes moves back towards full democracy, says Labour Leader David Cunliffe
“Fiji has announced its election date which is a strong move towards democracy and multiracial elections. As such we support lifting sanctions.
“However there is still work to be done. It is important that restrictions on media in Fiji are lifted as they will be a key part of free and fair elections.
“Labour will continue to monitor developments in Fiji to help ensure that there is genuine progress towards transparent and democratic processes in the lead up to the election,” says David Cunliffe.
