Family Commissioner must make up her mind-stay or go
Family Commissioner Dr Parmjeet Parmar now has to make up her mind and decide whether she is going to cease politicking
or remains a Family Commissioner, says Labour’s Associate Social Development spokesperson Rajen Prasad .
“I understand Dr Parmar has had detailed conversations with members of the National Party, including the Prime Minister
about standing as a National candidate. All she is now apparently waiting for, is to be told where she is on the list.
“Dr Parmar was outed yesterday at the Social Services Select Committee when I produced photographs of her standing with
John Key sporting a National Party rosette at last weekend’s Pasifika Festival.
“Yesterday the Chief Commissioner Belinda Milnes admitted she knew nothing about the Commissioner’s appearance at the
festival and was unaware of Dr Parmar’s political ambitions.
“I believe Dr Parmar has made her decision to stand. That is simply incompatible with her current role.
“The Chief Commissioner cannot let this situation drift on despite any advice from the State Services Commission. She
must now tell Dr Parmar to desist from blatant politics.”
