Supergold Card a Kiwi Success Story
New Zealand First is pleased that its 2007 ‘baby’, the SuperGold Card, continues to reach new heights of popularity with both users and participating businesses.
“SuperGold Card has more than 630,000 cardholders and 11,000 businesses offering discounts,” says New Zealand First Leader Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“The loyalty of businesses to SuperGold Card and the stream of new enterprises backing it with discounts on goods and services is important to New Zealand’s seniors.
“While there is an active campaign to promote SuperGold Card the Government must do more work to extend the benefits.
“Challenge Service Stations were a recent major new addition, particularly for regional cardholders, when they came on board offering an 8 cents per litre discount on up to 100 litres petrol for cardholders.
“New Zealand First’s SuperGold Health Check Bill proposes three free doctor’s visits every year for SuperGold Cardholders.
“We urge the Government to support our SuperGold Health Checks programme.
“It is not costly to the taxpayer if these visits lead to early diagnosis and successful treatment and eliminate the need for hospital care.
“There are also social and mental health benefits if the health checks prevent a senior from going into hospital,” says Mr Peters.
