Labour announces new chief of staff
Labour Leader David Cunliffe is pleased to announce political strategist Matt McCarten as Labour’s new chief of staff.
“Matt is a proven organiser with 30 years’ political experience. He knows Parliament and understands the work of MPs.
“He has spent his life fighting for social justice and workers’ rights. His values are the values of the Labour Party and the values of the government I want to lead.
“Matt will be an incredible asset to Labour’s team and it’s great to have him on board.
Matt McCarten comes to Parliament with a record of fighting for hardworking Kiwis.
“Life is getting tough for ordinary New Zealanders who are yet to get their fair share of National’s so-called economic recovery,” Matt McCarten says.
“Everyone knows this election will come down to the wire.
“I am here because I believe David Cunliffe and Labour can make a difference,” Matt McCarten says.
