Heat Smart Not So Smart
In Parliament today New Zealand First MP Asenati Lole-Taylor revealed that the Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart programme for providing insulation for homes is not as successful as the Government has been claiming.
In a series of searching questions to the Minister of Energy and Resources, Mrs Lole-Taylor MP left the Minister stumbling over his poor understanding of his own scheme and extent of shoddy
workmanship.
“Home insulation is an important policy that we support. But insulation must be installed properly or the scheme is
pointless.
“People have been contacting me who are dissatisfied with the standard of work under Heat Smart. They need to know their complaints will be dealt with promptly and effectively.
“Quality is critical to a home insulation programme. We will continue to hold the Government to account for shortcoming
in the Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart programme,” says Mrs Lole-Taylor.
