Parekura Horomia’s portfolios reallocated
Labour Leader David Shearer has today announced that Shane Jones and Rino Tirikatene will take responsibility for portfolios previously held by Labour MP Parekura Horomia.
“Parekura has left a huge legacy and we will always be grateful for his commitment and hard work as the MP for Ikaroa-Rāwhiti and in his roles as Māori Affairs and Treaty Negotiations spokesperson. He is missed by us all.
“The time has come for Parekura’s portfolios to be reallocated.
“I have appointed Shane Jones to the position of Māori Affairs spokesperson and also as associate Food Safety spokesperson given the importance of the food sector to Maori.
“Rino Tirikatene will take over responsibility for Treaty Negotiations.
“Together with Nanaia Mahuta, Moana Mackey and Louisa Wall, Labour’s Māori caucus will continue the good work of Parekura Horomia in fighting to improve the lives of Māori and all New Zealanders,” said David Shearer.
