Guilty parkers deserve a grilling
Multiple citings of vehicles, including a police car and a courier van, misusing disability car parks has upped the ante in an online campaign to name and shame selfish drivers, says Labour’s Disability Issues spokesperson Ruth Dyson.
“Revelations that a police car illegally parked in a mobility car park has added to the frustration.
“Mobility car parks are clearly marked. They are only to be used by people who have impairments – not for the everyday convenience of the general public or workers.
“They make access easier for people who deserve a break. It’s not rocket science. People who don't need to use these parks shouldn't use them.
“Police have regular fitness tests and couriers market themselves as being quick - they are physically mobile and should not be using these parks.
“I want to congratulate the team behind the Facebook page You’ve got my car park want my disability too? This is an example of grassroots activism that really makes a difference to the lives of people with disabilities,” Ruth Dyson said.
