Tribute to Ralph Hotere
New Zealand First joins with all New Zealanders in mourning the loss of Ralph Hotere, ONZ.
Arts and culture spokesperson Tracey Martin says Mr Hotere broke not only artistic glass ceilings in his lifetime but many social and cultural ones as well.
"One can see from his younger days as a Tiger Moth pilot and a school’s art advisor for the Education Department in the Bay of Islands that he was a brave man that took opportunities when they came.
“Through his work he found influential ways to inform others and ignite discussion.
“He has left his mark on this nation and the world and will be sadly missed. Our thoughts go out to his family at this time,” says Ms Martin.
