Ministry ignored warnings on Novoshambles
The Ministry of Education ignored warnings from trial users of the Novopay system, providing further evidence of the disastrous handling of the new pay system, says Labour’s Education Spokesperson Nanaia Mahuta
“Hekia Parata and Craig Foss have presided over a Novoshambles. Almost every day new revelations emerge on how badly this system has been handled.
“Today we hear over 60 per cent of trial users said they weren’t ready for the system. Yet the Ministry ploughed ahead. Why were their warnings ignored?
“It is an absolutely fundamental duty of an employer to pay their staff on time. The Ministry has caused huge uncertainty for teachers who are missing bill payments and need to cover Christmas bills.
“The Government must ensure Novopay is sorted quickly. It’s time for Hekia Parata and Craig Foss to step in and sort this out,” Nanaia Mahuta said.
