New university council appointments made

New university council appointments made
Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment Steven Joyce today announced three new appointments to the councils of the University of Auckland and Victoria University.
The new appointees are former Fonterra Chief Executive Andrew Ferrier to the University of Auckland Council, and lawyer Victoria Heine and accountant John Selby to the Victoria University of Wellington Council.
“Mr Ferrier is a welcome addition to the University of Auckland’s Council. His strong business acumen and skills gained through his work at senior executive level in global companies will be incredibly valuable to the University of Auckland”, Mr Joyce says.
“Ms Heine and Mr Selby bring extensive skills to Victoria University’s Council, with their respective backgrounds in law and commerce”.
Andrew Ferrier
Mr Ferrier recently stepped down as Chief Executive of the Fonterra Co-operative. He has significant experience at the senior executive level, and is currently a director of Orion Health, software innovators of the healthcare sector. Mr Ferrier has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick and a Master of Business Administration from Concordia University.
Victoria Heine
Ms Heine is a partner at the Wellington branch of Chapman Tripp. She is a lawyer with background in public and administrative law, and regulatory litigation and enforcement. Ms Heine is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington where she completed degrees in law and biochemistry. In 1996 she won a Fulbright Scholarship to study law and economics at the University of Chicago.
John Selby
Mr Selby is a chartered accountant who recently retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers, and has experience working with audit and risk committees, boards and senior executives. Mr Selby has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland, is a chartered accountant and a member of the Institute of Directors.
