Tax Currency Traders
“About time somebody else caught on to the potential of the Hone Heke Tax” said MANA leader, MP Hone Harawira.
“When Brent Robinson, Managing Director of Rakon, a multi-million dollar business producing crystal components, asks how can New Zealand grab some of the ‘hot money’ that is traded due to our more than generous laws that govern the exchange of currency -the answer is simple” said Harawira. “The Hone Heke Tax.”
“Figures show that a Hone Heke Tax of 1% on all financial transactions would nearly double our tax revenue from $55 billion to $90 billion every year.”
“The problem of course is that our PM is a currency trader who thinks that tax-free financial trading will solve all our problems. Poor people are struggling to get by and paying taxes at every step of the journey, while currency traders are dealing in millions of dollars every day, and paying nothing for the privilege".
"We’re not asking for much - only 1%".
