Review of film commission welcomed
Labour today welcomed the long awaited release of the Peter Jackson led review of the New Zealand Film Commission, Labour arts, culture and heritage spokesperson Steve Chadwick said.
“I am delighted that Peter Jackson has told the Government that the Film Commission must remain in place,” Steve Chadwick said.
“The Film Commission was set up to enable New Zealand stories to be told in film and it’s important that we have an agency that continues to support this to happen.
“As New Zealanders we have made our mark on the world stage with our successes in the industry and it is critical that we find the right levers to grow and sustain that success.
“I will be reading the report in depth over the next few days, but on the face of it the review represents a positive way forward for the commission,” Steve Chadwick said.
