It Takes A Village To Raise A Child
The Maori Party says it takes a village to raise a child and it is encouraging whanau throughout Aotearoa today, on National Children’s Day, to take time out to praise their children, mokopuna, nieces and nephews.
“Every day should be a day to give praise and encouragement to our children, but particularly so on this very special day,” Maori Party co-leader Tariana Turia said.
“Most parents in this country are doing great mahi with their children. It takes a village, a community to raise children and just like adults, they too need praise and encouragement.
“I hope today sets a catalyst for parents and whanau who do not give their children praise and encouragement every day,” she said.
