Jones to launch building policy in Whangarei
Building and Construction Minister Shane Jones will launch the Labour building policy in Whangarei tomorrow (Thursday).
"All three of our Northland mayors – Wayne Brown (Far North), Neil Tiller (Kaipara) and Stan Semenoff (Whangarei) – gave me an earful over the amount of red-tape in the Building Act at the start of the year," Mr Jones said.
"I promised to get rid of that dreadful red tape and I have done just that. Our future policy is based on extending the initiatives we have taken to free up choice in the market while continuing to protect the home builder.
"I am pleased and grateful to Stan for hosting this event because I believe our North mayors and building and construction leaders deserve to hear not only what I have done, but what I am planning for the future of the industry."
Mr Jones said he had developed a number of initiatives which he believes will set the foundations for long-term consumer confidence in builders and contractors.
