Comment on Yang (Bill) Liu
National Party MP Pansy Wong has confirmed that she wrote a letter to the Internal Affairs Department after being approached by Mr Yang (Bill) Liu who was concerned about a delay in the processing of his bid for citizenship.
“I wrote the letter after I was told that the Minister of Immigration had not revoked his residency status.  I was unaware of the allegations that have been made against him in the media in the past day or so.”
Mrs Wong says Mr Liu has been an active participant in the Asian community.
“Because he had already been here for a number of years, I assumed relevant checks had been made by Government officials.”
Mrs Wong says she hasn’t solicited, or received a donation from Mr Liu.
