Press Release
Not Good Enough, Prime Minister
Rodney Hide MP
Friday, August 29 2008
ACT Leader Rodney Hide today said that it was not good enough that Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters has stood
down - Prime Minister Helen Clark should have sacked him.
"I've disagreed with Miss Clark's policies because I'm not a socialist - but I've always admired her intelligence,
integrity and hard work," Mr Hide said.
"Tragically, she's now trapped in Winston Peters' web of deceit and deception - Helen Clark has put power over
principle, and New Zealand is now the loser.
"Miss Clark hasn't been prepared to do what's right: sack a Minister who has misled her and the country, and who is
under investigation by the Serious Fraud Office.
"All the Prime Minister has done is allowed him to stand down - as though his behaviour is some temporary aberration.
By simply allowing him to stand down, she's kept her teetering government together - but voters will now judge Helen
Clark by Winston Peters' behaviour.
"The election simply cannot come quick enough," Mr Hide said.
