Say No To The ETS
Rodney Hide MP
Tuesday, August 26 2008
ACT Leader Rodney Hide today expressed hope that both the Green Party and New Zealand First would refuse to support the Labour-led Government's Emissions Trading Scheme.
"It's a rubbish Bill that will put huge costs on the economy for no good environmental purpose. It should be dumped," Mr Hide said.
"The ETS will cost jobs, keep wages down, and make goods and services more expensive. It won't make one bit of difference to world weather.
"It's a dopey Bill that should be dumped. It's certainly wrong for it to be rushed through with last-minute changes and a cobbled together majority - by a government teetering on the way out. This is the last way to be making good law and sound policy," Mr Hide said.
