Key admits support for communism
National Party Leader John Key stands firmly behind both his full support for Working for Families and his vehement opposition to the scheme.
During debate in Parliament today on Mr Key’s flip flop on support for the Labour-led government’s Working for Families programme, the National Party leader interjected to confirm that he still regards Working for Families as ‘communism by stealth’ even though he claims that he will keep it in place unchanged if elected.
“John Key has never stuck by any of his beliefs for very long, but the current pace of his flip flopping is fast even by his standards,” Finance Minister Michael Cullen said.
“He attacked Working for Families as ‘communism by stealth’ and a ‘costly welfare monster’, then yesterday he said it was important support for families and affordable, and then said today that it was in fact ‘communism by stealth’ again.
“How can anyone take anything this man says seriously? When you change your mind this often, you can always change it back again.”
