Complaints service pleases UF
UnitedFuture is thrilled at the Government’s announcement that it has today launched a new complaints service for the
Children and Young Families Service, according to the party’s deputy leader, Judy Turner.
“UnitedFuture has been asking for this for some time and we are thrilled that the Government has not only put in place
legislation to ensure that the CEO of this department is obliged to have a process in place, but that the Minister has
sought to see that there is an independent Advisory Panel to handle complaints that aren't able to be resolved at a
local branch level.
“Beyond this welcome announcement, we would like to see more support for social workers who are the subject of
complaints.
“They need to feel safe in their work environment and would like to see independent advocates made available to
complainants to help them present their concerns in a way that is helpful and clear,” said Mrs Turner.
